This procedure is performed over multiple visits. On the first day you will need to return to our clinic each hour for 5 hours after the first part of your appointment. You will then be required to return for another 1-hour appointment (liquid phase) on a separate day.
Below is a list of requirements for you to follow prior to your procedure.
![]() | Do send us a copy of your referral if you have not yet done so. We require this prior to your appointment. |
![]() | Don’t eat from midnight the night before appointment. No food, smoking, chewing, gum, lollies, breath mints, cough lollies etc. |
![]() | Do continue to take sips of water prior to your appointment. |
![]() | Don’t take any Opiates or Prokinetic medication that might affect gastric emptying for 2 days prior to your appointment. If you are not sure check with our staff. Examples include: Metoclopramide, domperidone, opiates, anticholinergics, nifedipine, benzodiazepine etc. |
![]() | Do continue to take all your other regular medication as normal. Do send us a list of all your regular medications at least 2 days before your appointment |
![]() | Do let us know if you have an egg or gluten allergy. We need this information at least 24 hours prior to your appointment |
![]() | Do bring your reading glasses with you. You will be required to complete some paperwork on arrival, if you require reading glasses please bring them with you |
![]() | Do wear loose, warm, comfortable clothing. Avoid zippers, studs, watches, and jewellery. |
![]() | Do let us know if you need to cancel your appointment. Every patient has an individual isotope dose ordered for them. This is a high cost item. We need early advice (at least 48hrs) of cancellation to stop the preparation of this isotope, otherwise this cost may be passed onto you. |
![]() | Do bring your Referral, Medicare, Concession and DVA Card and any previous related scans to your appointment. |
![]() | Do expect to have this procedure performed over multiple visits. |
