Below is a list of requirements for you to follow prior to your procedure.

Do send us a copy of your referral if you have not yet done so.
We require this prior to your appointment.
Do arrange a Prescription from your doctor.
You will need to take a drug called Omeprazole as preparation for this procedure. Please arrange to get a script from your referrer or GP for this medication which you will need to purchase from a chemist
Do take Medication as per below.
Evening before procedure: Adults, please take 20mg Omeprazole with evening meal.
(Children aged under 16 years should take 0.5mg/kg)
Morning of procedure: Adults, please take 20mg Omeprazole with a small amount of water before coming for test. (Children aged under 16 years should take 0.5mg/kg)
Do continue to take your regular medication as normal.
Don’t eat after Midnight the evening before your test.
Don’t drink after Midnight the evening before your test.
Plain water permitted only with medication.
Don’t strenuously exercise for 24 hours prior to your appointment 
Do bring your reading glasses with you.
You will be required to complete some paperwork on arrival, if you require reading glasses please bring them with you
Do wear loose, warm, comfortable clothing.
Avoid zippers, studs, watches, and jewellery.
Do let us know if you need to cancel your appointment.
Every patient has an individual isotope dose ordered for them. This is a high cost item. We need early advice (at least 48hrs) of cancellation to stop the preparation of this isotope, otherwise this cost may be passed onto you.
Do bring your Referral, Medicare, Concession and DVA Card and any previous related scans to your appointment.
Do expect to have this procedure performed over multiple visits.
On the first day you will need to return to our clinic approximately 6 hours after your first appointment.   You will then be required to return every morning (for 30 minutes) for the rest of the week and possibly on the following Monday morning.

  • The patient is non-english speaking and requires us to arrange an interpreter to be present at the appointment.
