Below is a list of requirements for you to follow prior to your procedure.

![]() | Do arrange a Prescription from your doctor. You will need to take a drug called Omeprazole as preparation for this procedure. Please arrange to get a script from your referrer or GP for this medication which you will need to purchase from a chemist |
![]() | Do take Medication as per below. Evening before procedure: Adults, please take 20mg Omeprazole with evening meal. (Children aged under 16 years should take 0.5mg/kg) Morning of procedure: Adults, please take 20mg Omeprazole with a small amount of water before coming for test. (Children aged under 16 years should take 0.5mg/kg) Do continue to take your regular medication as normal. |

![]() | Don’t drink after Midnight the evening before your test. Plain water permitted only with medication. |
![]() | Don’t strenuously exercise for 24 hours prior to your appointment |
![]() | Do bring your reading glasses with you. You will be required to complete some paperwork on arrival, if you require reading glasses please bring them with you |
![]() | Do wear loose, warm, comfortable clothing. Avoid zippers, studs, watches, and jewellery. |
![]() | Do let us know if you need to cancel your appointment. Every patient has an individual isotope dose ordered for them. This is a high cost item. We need early advice (at least 48hrs) of cancellation to stop the preparation of this isotope, otherwise this cost may be passed onto you. |
![]() | Do bring your Referral, Medicare, Concession and DVA Card and any previous related scans to your appointment. |
![]() | Do expect to have this procedure performed over multiple visits. On the first day you will need to return to our clinic approximately 6 hours after your first appointment. You will then be required to return every morning (for 30 minutes) for the rest of the week and possibly on the following Monday morning. |

- The patient is non-english speaking and requires us to arrange an interpreter to be present at the appointment.
