Radiology Trainee Research Grant
Perth Radiological Clinic (PRC) PRC is committed to the professional development of radiologists in Western Australia and is pleased to offer a scholarship for registrars undertaking the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Radiologists (RANZCR) Clinical Radiology Training Program (the RANZCR program). The research grant is non-exclusive and may be claimed in addition to the RANZCR Research Grant.
Purpose:
To support radiology trainees in disseminating their research findings, fostering professional development, and promoting the exchange of scientific knowledge within the field of radiology. This grant, awarded by the Perth Radiological Clinic Research and Development Subcommittee, can be used to cover the cost of presenting research at a national or international conference OR the open access publication fee for research accepted for publication in a journal.
Eligibility:
- Must be currently enrolled in the WA radiology training program.
- Must have conducted radiology research.
- Must have either:
- An abstract accepted for presentation at a national or international radiology conference, OR
- A research paper accepted for publication in a journal, with an associated open access fee.
Application Requirements:
- Copy of the abstract accepted for presentation (if applicable).
- Copy of the journal acceptance letter (if applicable).
- Letter of support from the supervising radiologist, confirming the trainee’s involvement in the research.
- Budget outlining estimated expenses for presenting or publishing the research:
- Conference presentation expenses:
- Registration fee
- Travel
- Accommodation
- Open access publication fee:
- Provide the open access publication fee charged by the journal.
- Conference presentation expenses:
- Personal statement explaining how the chosen activity (conference or publication) aligns with the trainee’s research goals and career development.
Evaluation Criteria:
Applications will be evaluated by the Perth Radiological Clinic Research and Development Subcommittee awarded based on the following criteria:
- Quality and originality of the research.
- Relevance and significance of the research to the field of radiology.
- Strength of the abstract or paper and its potential impact on the target audience.
- Demonstrated financial need and justification of the budget.
- Clarity and persuasiveness of the personal statement.
Award Details:
- The grant amount will be allocated based on the expenses associated with the research activity (conference or open access publication).
- Funding will be provided to cover either:
- Conference registration, travel (economy airfare or mileage reimbursement), accommodation (shared or single room), and a per diem for meals (up to a maximum of $5,000), OR
- The open access publication fee for the accepted journal.
- Awardees will be required to submit a brief report upon completion of the dissemination activity, summarizing their experience and the impact on their professional development.
Application Deadline:
Applications will be accepted on a rolling basis until funds are exhausted for each calendar year.
Additional Information:
- Preference may be given to trainees presenting research at major national or international radiology conferences (e.g., RSNA, ECR, ARRS) or publishing in high-impact journals.
- Previous awardees may reapply for funding, but priority will be given to first-time applicants.
