Dr Arjuna Somanathan

Dr Somanathan has been part of PRC’s team of expert radiologists since 2018.

In addition to working at PRC, Dr Arjuna Somanathan is a consultant radiologist at Sir Charles Gairdner Hospital, specialising in imaging of the chest, heart, abdomen, and oncological imaging (imaging to detect cancer).

Arjuna graduated from the University of New South Wales’ Medical School in 2009, and obtained a Masters of Public Health (International Health) from UNSW in 2013.

His career in radiology commenced with training at Sydney’s St George Hospital in 2012. Following completion in 2017, he took up roles as a consultant radiologist at both St George Hospital and a private practice nearby. Soon, the western states were calling, and in July 2017 Arjuna commenced a Chest and Body MRI fellowship at Sir Charles Gairdner hospital, joining our team in August 2018.

Arjuna’s sub-specialty interests are cardiac imaging, thoracic imaging, and abdominal imaging. He has special interests in cardiac MRI, small bowel MRI, and the imaging of abdominal sarcomas as well as percutaneous procedures.

He participates in the Lung Cancer at MDT at Hollywood Hospital, as well as the IBD and abdominal sarcoma MDTs at Sir Charles Gairdner where is also involved in forensic imaging. Arjuna is also dedicated to advancing the field and sharing his expertise as a current examiner for the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Radiologists (RANZCR).
