Peek A View 4D baby ultrasound is for parents who wish to have a non-medical baby scan to view photorealistic 3D images and 4D videos. We invite you to book an appointment for a Peek A View 4D baby ultrasound. This provides an exciting opportunity to see your little one before they are due.
Do you require an interpreter?
Is the patient non-english speaking? If so, we can arrange for an interpreter to be present during the appointment. Please let us know as soon as possible so we can make the relevant arrangements.
- 3D/4D ultrasound depends on the position of the baby and the amount of fluid around the baby’s face. Please remain adequately hydrated for at least 24 hours prior to the scan. At the appointment, there is no need for a full bladder but try not to completely empty your bladder
- Have a normal meal about 2 hours before the appointment time. 15 minutes before the appointment, a few lollies, chocolate, sugary drink or fresh fruit will help get the baby moving
- Ensure you are registered for myPRC to download your images and videos.
Yes, your anatomy scan or 3rd trimester scans are a referred medical procedure providing screening of foetal anatomy and foetal growth, this must be performed prior to any 4D baby scan. Images are reviewed by one of our radiologists, a report of the findings is sent to your referring practitioner. Obstetric ultrasounds form an important part of the medical management of a pregnancy. The 2D ultrasound pictures can be viewed in the myPRC portal at no additional charge.
Peek A View 4D baby is an elective, non-medical baby ultrasound service provided at Perth Radiological Clinic – Booragoon allowing parents to spend some extra time bonding with their baby before they are born. 4D means you can see your baby move in 3D. It’s important to note that this optional ultrasound does not replace a medically required ultrasound.
We encourage you to book your Peek A View 4D baby scan between 24- and 30-weeks’ gestation.
Currently this service is only available to patients who have had their 18–20-week anatomy scan at Perth Radiological Clinic.
Included in your 4D baby appointment:
- A private 20-minute appointment with a qualified obstetric sonographer
- See your baby and hear its heartbeat with safe, state-of-the-art 3D/4D ultrasound
- A dedicated studio room with space for up to four family members and guests to share your magical, bonding experience
- Your 3D baby images and 4D baby videos will be available on myPRC, and USB, on the same day, ready to share with your family and friends.
A private fee of $200 is payable at the time of your appointment.
Please note: This is not a medical or diagnostic scan; no Medicare rebate is available.
Sometimes we are unable to get good photos on the day for a number of reasons – baby’s position, position of the placenta and other factors.
If we are unable to obtain clear images and videos, we will offer one free rescan at a later date. Please plan your Peek a View 4D baby scan before 30 weeks wherever possible, as rescans after 32 weeks cannot be offered.
